Happy Thanksgiving

Well here we are, another Turkey Day is upon us. A day to reflect on what blessings we have in our life's, things we are grateful for and a day to hang out with friends and family. And it is a day of couse, to eat like an Ethiopian kid at the Old Country Buffet. We will stuff the turkey and then five hours later, stuff ourselves.
I can count many blessings in my life. I have a decent job, a neat little house, pretty decent health (most days), and above all a wonderful wife.
I'm thankful to have her in my life and above all, I'm thankful that her health continues to be good (most days). The woman has been through the ringer I'll tell ya'. I will not go into the gorey details but let me tell you, she is the strongest person I know.
I'm thankful to live in a truly free country. We have our problems but really, we've got it pretty good. We have the bravest men and women in the world in the form of our armed forces protecting us here and abroad.
So as we await the arrival of Mims and Cassie, we are going to just chill out. Mags has already made three pies and the house was cleaned up nice yesterday. I'll take CrazyDog for his walk in a bit. The boy loves to run but I just keep up with the little whippersnapper. We will be heading to Bub's for a nice dinner at about 1 and hopefully, we will have a nice, relaxing long weekend.
I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Who Da' Man?? You Da' Man Marty

A super big Congratulations to my man in Newark. Well, he's not my man..you know like that..although he'd be my wife's man if she had anything to say about it. But I digress..
Martin Brodeur, who notched win number 500 last night over the rival Philthadelphia Flyers. It was a good contest but the big guns on the Devils side are starting to brush away the happy summer memories of golfing and maitais on the beach to dent the twine more and more and before long, they will be back on top of their division. A lot of the off-season moves seem to be starting to come together.
Hey, I'll never doubt Sweet Lou Lamoriello. He is a wicked-smahhht hockey guy. So whilst Marty is number two on the all-time wins list only behind the slightly neurotic ( he talked to his goalposts people) Patrick Roy, the idea of Marty reaching and breaking the record of 551 wins is a very good possibility. Patty was an awesome goalie in own right and Marty actually grew up idolizing him in Montreal, but I'm thinking by the end of the year we may have a new all-time goal tending wins leader.
So Marty good luck to you and the boys for the rest of the season. And remember..you da' man.

Save Congo! or Only in America....

Okay, more disturbing news for ya. This is a small summary of an even that took place in Princeton, NJ this week. Unfucking believable.

"In Princeton, a family dog, Congo, has been declared "vicious" by municipal Judge Russell Annich Jr.. Because of this, he may be ordered put to sleep, this coming Tuesday. His crime? A landscaper came onto the property of the dog's owner, Guy and Elizabeth James, after being told to wait. Congo and the family's other dogs started to bark. One of the landscapers' started hitting the dogs with a metal rake. Elizabeth James started to yell at him to stop. So, the landscaper grabbed Elizabeth, from behind, and pulled her to the ground. Congo, thinking that his owner was being attacked, did what ANY good dog should do. He tried to protect his owner. The landscaper was bitten, and injured, as he should have been. Now, for being a good dog, Congo risks being put to sleep.

So these freakin' idiots first enter the yard when they were told to wait (could really be trespassing, no?) while the homeowners got the doggies inside, then they, the landscapers that is, beat a couple of dogs with a rake (animal cruelty) throw the lady owner on the ground (simple assault) and once the dog bites him, he files a suit. And a nitwit judge rules the dog is vicious. In a perfect world the police would have charged the landscapers with trespassing, animal cruelty and simple assault. but not here in America...nooooo we feel bad for and protect the wrongdoers, and now a family is at risk of losing a beloved pet.
Morons, the dog was doing it's job. It's owner was thrown to the ground by a person he wasn't familiar with and he did the right thing & he bit the fucker. The dog was protecting it's mistress. Any dog would have done it. It's one of a dogs most endearing traits. It will protect it's family. Whether that family be of the four-legged or the two-legged variety. Once you are part of it's pack, you're golden. No one will mess with you without consequence. But here in the good ol' USA we have to find a way to punish the innocent lest the pillow-biters at the ACLU get involved and decide we've hurt someone's feelings or smoehow violated their rights. Welcome to America! Do what you want, it's cool....God this burns my little ass!
So I've found an email where you can send the judge a little email. Tell him what you think. Let's try and save this dog.

Help save Congo!
Please email Judge Annich and show your support for the James family and Congo by coming to a rally at the Princeton Township courthouse on Tuesday, November 13th, at 10 AM. The address for the Courthouse is 400 Witherspoon Street, Princeton, NJ 08540

My Friday Off

So this is a Friday off for me. I had plans but nixed them because I was told at work we'd be workign Saturday. Policy in my place is you must physically work 40 hours to get the overtime. In other words, if I took my PTO today and worked Saturday it would be straight time. So after a consult with Mags, I cancelled a doctors appointment and told my boss I'd work Friday and Saturday. I explained the company plicy to him and he said "okay, great".
He told me at like 430 there would probably be no work Saturday. So I huffed and puffed and grumbled to myself. Only because I cancelled a doctors appointment. I have to reschedule but will do that Mon. I tried today but my doctor's office is notoriously hard to get hold of. You are usually put on hold for upwards of fifteen minutes. But I digress.
This morning I was up early and drove to Freehold to turn in the tags from my truck. The DMV is about ten miles away and the ride was pretty easy. I walked in and walked out, having beat the crowds. I then headed towards home and hit Lowes and then to Wegmans for ingredients for dinner. Once home I made a pot of Irish tea and sat down to read the paper. I then realised I left desert at the store. So back to Wegmans it was and when I walked in and inquired about my desert I was given my bag which also had the four cans of broth in it! Man, where is my head at??
So that problem resolved I came home, got some laundry going, scrubbed the toilets and played with CrazyDog for about 45 minutes. Then it was into the kitchen to prepare tonight's dinner for Maggie and Meself which will be Pot roast Provencal. Little veggies little wine and a nice cut of meat. Throw it into the oven for 3 hours and we will be eatin' good. I also made an apple crisp for dinner. I've never done one of those so it will be interesting to see how it comes out.
Hope it's good.
