Cold and Rainy

Well, the rain meteorologists have been promising for the last week and a half has finally arrived. Mother Nature had teased at several times during the week, the whole thunder booming, lighting flashing display of her mightiness, but the rain never came. Early one morning the thunder was so bad it rattled the knick-knacks and had Crazy Dog leaning heavily against the side of the bed panting like he had just run a 5k marathon. The thunder crashed and boomed like a little child having a big temper tantrum until finally, his mother gave him whatever it was he wanted, and then it was done. Without the rain...
Early today, very early, I was awakened by the fact that I could not breathe. I am experiencing a head-cold of the finest variety and my nose was completely shut. On top of that, Moke detected me awake and decided he wanted to be fed. He started doing that 'claw-sharpening' thing on my side of the mattress ( even though he has no claws) and crying for his breakfast. I got up for tea and Maggie was soon joining me.
The cat fed and tea had, I decided to perform my Sunday morning ritual, PostSecret. This blog is awesome and unless you've been living under a rock for the last year or so, you've seen it or heard about it. Check it out. Frank Warren has a great site!
It's time for more tea. Hopefully I can get rid of whatever is ailing me by the time I have to go to work tomorrow.

A New Beer

I tried a new beer over the weekend. It's brewed by Rhode Island's own Newport Storm. It was a Wheat beer and it really wasn't bad. It had good color and a nice taste. The folks at Newport Storm make a few different brews and my personal fave is the Hurricane Ale. Try 'em out if you can get your hands on 'em. Good stuff!

Successful Surgery

My younger brother was in a car accident the other day and there was a fire. He got a little burned on his hands and chest but the weirdest part of this was that he lost his eyelids! Scary huh? The plastic surgeon told my mother he knew a procedure that was rarely used in the States but was big in Mumbai. He would use foreskin from my brother to replace the eyelids. The surgery was a very safe procedure and the only possible side-effect would be that my brother would be cock-eyed.

Someone's Gotta Take The Heat...Literally

I had to work five feet from an ink-drying heater toady that heats up to over 100 degrees and there's no A/C in my shop. And we had a one million piece job dropped in our laps that needs to be done by Monday. And we're using antiquated machines to do it. I'm talking a DOS computer people. And we are not being give the required manpower to run said dinosaur......Crap.

Come to Pappa

Well, a month or two ago I brewed my first batch of beer. It was a kit the Lovely Maggie got for me for Christmas and I finally got some time to create the brew. It was all together in a neat little kit. I boiled the water, stirred in the yeast and hops and then carefully transferred the wort to my keg and tightly sealed it. Thekeg sat atop my refrigerator for two weeks, mocking me. I could hear it every morning when I made my tea.."come onnn...just try me.." I would not give in. After two weeks it was ready to bottle. I carefully lowered the keg onto the counter and added the required sugar ( yes there is sugar in beer) and bottled it. Now it had to sit for a month, "conditioning". I put a few in the fridge to create a Lager ( lager is the German word for 'cold storage') and most of the brews sat tucked safely on the floor of our closet.
Finally, last night it was time. The moment of truth. I pulled a chilly bottle from the fridge and popped the top. I slowly poured my creation into a cold glass and lifted it gently to my lips. It really was pretty good, if I may be so modest. It was a California style Pale Ale. It was very light in color, I prefer the dark beers, but it had a really nice taste to it. I've given a few to my beer-loving neighbors and they all raved so I guess my first batch was a success! Once these are gone, I'm thinking I may try it again, this time maybe I'll try to make it a little darker. Maybe add some spices, do a little OcktoberFest type of beer. Yummy.

Again With The Spelling...

Well, my speedy keyboard fingers have gotten me again. Last night after I changed up the address of my blog, I typed it into an E-mail to Maggie so she could put it into her favorites.
All I did was misspell 'blogspot' as 'blogpsot' and holy crap...you gotta see what comes up....go ahead....try it www.drinkingalestellingtales.blogpsot.com
Freaky huh? I mean considering the title of my blog refers to drinkin'. Hmmm..Will the Bible thumpin' freakazoids ever stop? Oh no..you don't think I've been targeted for reprogramming do you? Damn!....ooops I mean goshgolly...wacky buggers
